Aunt Bonnie sends gifts

Aunt Bonnie on Jason's side of the family sent us baby stuff today!!!! :) Now we had the choice to wait until the baby shower to open it, but presents are always just too exciting to wait for so we opened it!

She is going to be an amazing great-aunt for michelle haha she's already sending us new stuff every few weeks we are so lucky to have so many people caring for Michelle already.

Anyway this is the stuff she bought!! Michelle's first jeans :) and her first little shoes :)

And this is all the most talented Aunt Bonnie made herself!!! there's even little flowers on the mittens and the little hat and the fuzzy shoes are so soft :) I can't wait to put little Michelle in it all...

Baby Michelle

I am Heather and a very soon mother to be... :) which i am so excited, nervous and scared out of my mind for. My husband Jason and I are soon to be having a little girl that we've decided to name Michelle Kimberly Lewis. Heres a picture of her at i think 18 weeks.

We found out i was pregnant at 5 weeks, i went to my first doctors apointment at around 12 weeks, we were told she'd be a girl at 18 weeks and then we discovered something was wrong with one of my blood tests which indicated a birth defect. My heart almost stopped when i got a call from my doctor explaining i needed to go see a specialist as soon as possible. Unfortunately the specialist couldn't schedule me in for a month and a half!! That was extremely difficult for me to deal with, knowing that something was wrong but not being able to find out for such a long time.

When we finally got in to see the specialist we were trying to be so positive that nothing would be wrong and that the tests were just weird for some other reason, we watched as the specialist did the ultrasound and everything looked fine to us so we were ready for some good news. But then he started talking about this thing called gastroschisis and making no sense to us at all, later we found out she has a hole in her tummy and most of her small and large intestines are outside her body. It was devistating to hear that our little girl would be going through surgery after she was born and wouldn't be able to come home for weeks, and thats if she makes it to birth.

Anyway that brings us to today, its the first day i got to go up to the primary childrens hospital to talk with them about what will happen when she's born. Everyone there is so positive that everything will go just fine and that i shouldn't worry, but its so hard not to, especially after they let me tour the NICU and see all the tiny babies. Its just so hard to be positive every single day when you don't know what the outcome will be, its been such a stressfull ride for my husband and I and yet all we can do is pray and hope for the best. I just can't wait to finally take my little Michelle and finally have her safe at home.
